The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) is a global network of organizations that propel entrepreneurship in developing economies. The Opportunity

The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE), a global network of organizations that propel entrepreneurship in emerging markets, is looking for a Communications Intern for our US office.

You are an undergraduate or graduate student passionate about having a positive impact on the world. You love being a global citizen and jump at the chance to connect with people from other countries and cultures. You are interested in the impact that startups, small businesses, and entrepreneurs can have on local economies and you are curious about career paths at the intersection of business and international development. You think of yourself as an excellent team player and you are the first to raise your hand to help with any task, big or small. You take pride in focusing on details and you love the idea of using your organizational skills to benefit entrepreneurs. You have diverse interests and an abundant willingness to learn new concepts and skills.

Job Responsibilities

Day to day work involves a variety of tasks from social media management to editing or developing content with global colleagues. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Draft and schedule social media content (including basic graphic design)
  • Compile and draft newsletter and other email content
  • Make edits and updates to ANDE website
  • Write and/or proofread content from across ANDE for publication across communications channels, including blogs etc.
  • Support development of communications kits for ANDE events, publications, initiatives, and other announcements
  • Support communications team with other communications-related member services as needed
  • Flexible hours and remote work to enable communications with our international staff and members in other time zones is often needed.


The ideal candidate for this role has:

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and tools (ex. Hootsuite)
  • Basic website editing skills (familiarity with WordPress a bonus)
  • Basic graphic design knowledge and know-how (familiarity with Canva or Adobe suite a bonus)
  • IT management skills - MS Office, Google Suite, etc.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Creativity
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks
  • Entrepreneurial or self starter attitude
  • Team player attitude and is excited about engaging with many cultures and learning about the sector

Details about the Role?

The internship would run from early January through June 2022 at 20 hours per week.

This is a paid position offering $15.20/hour (or minimum wage in your state). Only candidates located in the following states will be considered: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, DC

Note that this role will be remote until further notice given the COVID-19 pandemic and that applicants must be able to use their own computer.
