About the Department of Pediatrics

The Department of Pediatrics and the Children's Hospital of the University of Illinois is home to >120 faculty, 39 Pediatric Residents, 16 Med/Peds Residents, 14 Fellows, and a growing, nationally ranked pediatric research program. Each year, our faculty receives more than $20 million in research grants. The Partnership for Pediatric Care encompassing the inpatient units at Children's Hospital of the University of Illinois (CHUI) and Cook County Health includes more than 110 beds (16 pediatric intensive care, 24 step-down, and 70 neonatal intensive care unit). Designations include Level III NICU, PCCC (critical care), EDAP (emergency room), and Burn and Trauma (CCH). The Partnership for Pediatric Care provides convenient access to outpatient services at more than 30 locations including Mile Square Federally Qualified Health Centers and Cook County Health clinics. Each year, the Partnership for Pediatric Care serves more than 100,000 children with nearly 230,000 visits. The Department of Pediatrics has the primary leadership role in the child health enterprise across UI Health.

About the Division of Adolescent Medicine

The division is committed to providing high-quality, comprehensive, care to adolescents in the surrounding community and across the State of Illinois. We provide primarily outpatient services with minimal inpatient work. The practice treats teens and young adults (12-25) for both primary care needs as well as sub-specialty care in female reproductive health, weight management, eating disorders, and other diverse adolescent-specific conditions. Candidates have an opportunity to participate in a myriad of research projects including sexual and reproductive health advocacy, youth HIV as part of the ATN (Adolescent Trials Network), as well our teen preventive mental health studies, which includes a global network of collaborators and over 1000 adolescent participants enrolled.

Description:

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) is seeking an Open Rank Faculty (Adolescent Medicine) to join our team. Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience.

We are seeking enthusiastic applicants with strong clinical skills and a commitment to academic excellence. Primary responsibility will be in clinical care, teaching, service, scholarly activity, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The proportion of responsibilities will be dependent on applicant's interests, experience, and expertise.

The candidate will have opportunities to develop their own scholarly/clinical niche. Skill in placing and removing LARCs is preferred. Applicants will participate in the teaching of medical students, pediatric residents, and Adolescent Medicine fellows. There is an excellent opportunity for clinical and basic sciences research. This position also includes the opportunity to serve as an Academic Program Director for the Adolescent Medicine Fellowship.

Qualifications:

  • MD or Equivalent
  • Successful completion of residency in Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Medicine-Pediatrics, or Family Medicine.
  • Unrestricted Illinois Medical Licensure
  • BC/BE in Adolescent Medicine
  • 3-5 years post fellowship experience preferred
  • Knowledge and skill in placing and removing LARCs is preferred.
