Job Description

Territory covers Northern Illinois and Wisconsin.

The Seed Manager for the division is responsible for managing sales activities and ensuring the company's goals and objectives are met.

The employee's primary duty must be the performance of office or non-manual work directly related to the management or general business operations of Helena or Helena's customers. This also includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.

What your day may look like

  • Spend 75% of your time calling on customers promoting Helena and Seed.
  • Works with Branch and other Division Managers to establish goals and direction for Helena's division seed business.
  • Develops long-term plans and forecasts for the Area seed business.
  • Provides sales direction to branches consistent with division and corporate plans.
  • Works with Division and Area Managers to develop seed sales and profit objectives by division and location.
  • Provides direction to Purchasing Managers about goals created by the division, business unit and corporate leaders.
  • Works with Purchasing Managers, Buyers and Branch and other Division Managers on inventory goals.
  • Provides program information and summaries to branch and division leaders.
  • Works with the Area Manager to develop increased branch awareness of their current seed market share and market share goals.
  • Identifies training needs of Area and branches consistent with the company's growth goals for the Area.
  • Organizes and implements seed training with division and sales leaders.
  • Provides assistance in developing an understanding of seed vendor profitability.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned by leader.
  • Reliable and regular attendance is expected.

Education and experience needed for this position

  • Bachelor's degree in agricultural related field is required.
  • Five years of agricultural sales experience is required.
  • Two years of leadership experience is required.

Other skills that will help you succeed:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of seed varieties and seed markets.
  • Basic knowledge of farming operations.
  • Leadership skills.

Your work environment and the physical aspects of the job

The work environment for this position may require the employee to work in an outdoor setting in all types of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements. When working outdoors and possibly around moving equipment/mechanical parts, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
