Overview
Who is IIRC? Illinois Interactive Report Cards is a department within the Division of Outreach, Engagement, and Regional Development at Northern Illinois University. Our mission at IIRC is twofold: To advance the public service mission of Northern Illinois University by delivering professional services and timely information that empowers students, families, and educators to improve their academic outcomes and level of college and career readiness; AND to advance the academic mission of Northern Illinois University by creating opportunities for faculty, staff, and students to partner in the delivery of those services. IIRC is an educational services and applied policy organization. IIRC forms collaborative partnerships with leading state and national educational stakeholders and professional organizations committed to educational reform across the spectrum from early childhood education to transition to work (P-20W).
IIRC concentrates on specific strategic initiatives. These include the previously outlined P-20W data analysis and reporting, P20W research, K-12 data-driven school improvement planning and professional development, technology staffing, and more. The most visible product of the work of the office is the Illinois Interactive Report Card website (www.illinoisreportcard.com), which NIU developed and hosts in partnership with the Illinois State Board of Education. The web site draws over 60,000 unique visitors monthly, and thanks to innovative design, rich content, handy search features, and colorful graphics, the IIRC website is a valued (and nationally recognized) public resource for education and school improvement. In 2019 released Illinois Postsecondary Profiles, a site dedicated to providing the same opportunities for analysis of post-secondary institutional data in Illinois that the IIRC provides at the K-12 level.
